Your description is difficult to understand and the latest screenshots don't really help. It seems you have a site with only two pages, the Home page and a second page that you call a sub-page (but that term is ambiguous).
First, I suggest you go directly to Joomla 5. Then create a two page site by copy paste the existing content.
Then work on your module assignments and show the problem as seen in Joomla 5.
Also, set Debug System to Yes and Error Reporting to Maximum. You may get a stack trace telling you where/why the page was not found.
